Reported in the Chicago Sun Times metro section by a staff reporter.
The Rev. Jesse L. Jackson and Rainbow/PUSH Coalition on Tuesday urged people not to download music illegally from the Internet.
“Do the right thing. Buy it, don’t burn it,” Jackson said.
Jackson said d/l music hurts the artists and song-writers but also “small urban record stores, the young artists trying to break in the biz and even the truck drivers and laborers who transport the music we love”
Jackson said that each month more than 2 billion files are d/l from the Internet and 60% are burned to CD.
Jackson said people do not realize piracy is illegal.
“Most people wouldn’t walk into a store and steal a CD. (No they do hold ups at 7Eleven’s) (sorry,hh)
