Charging for File Sharing?

More and more File Sharing companies are following Napster’s example and attempting to charge for downloading services. For example, Audiogalaxy, my favorite mp3 downloading service until now, just announced Audiogalaxy Gold, a $3 a month plan which allows Audiogalaxy members exclusive access to faster servers and a better satellite that sets up downloads faster. Around this time, audiogalaxy seemed to slow considerably, transfers cut off randomly and satellite errors increased greatly. Coincidence? I think any company that tries to charge us for downloading music is as misguided as the RIAA is. It’s just common sense, no one is going to pay for something when they can get the exact same thing for free elsewhere.
