The RIAA have been involved in a long running case against Madster. Recently the Judge ordered the RIAA to show how copyrighted material could be filtered on Madster. The RIAA submitted a document showing how they claimed it could be done. In responding to the document Madster parted company with it’s lawyer and missed several deadlines for responding. Now the Judge has sided with the RIAA’s method of filtering and told Madster to filter copyrighted material from it’s network. Specifically Madster must in addition to disabling access to copyrighted works, it must monitor its system and to keep a list of “any and all sound recordings and musical compositions” being made available. That list must be shared with record companies upon five business days notice. It seems it must set up a system where files get pre-approved.
The fight is not over.. Johnny Deep still says that he cannot filter on the network. The Madster network is still up and running.
