Today on the Lycos 50 here, there is a short article by Aaron Schatz regarding the top P2p file-searches through the search engine Lycos.
The story is obviously written by a man that knows very little about P2P progams, but it is interesting in the fact that it has a list of the current top P2P searches versus the top searches from one year ago (shown in parentheses):
1) KaZaA (4)
2) Morpheus (1)
3) WinMX (5)
4) eDonkey (11)
5) Napster (2)
6) iMesh (7)
7) eMule (-)
Direct Connect (-)
9) Bearshare (10)
10) Limewire (9)
11) Audiogalaxy (3)
12) Grokster (-)
The article also relates statistics of where file-sharers search from by country and the rapid rise in popularity of the eMule program. You can read the full article here.
