The ‘P2P Million Plus Club’* is only for clients that have achieved success usually over a few years. In particular, it is a big sign that the client has achieved massive success with a mainstream audience. It is not always the preference with the more knowledgeable user but has the features and brand awareness to pull the masses. Up until recently only 3 clients had achieved a million plus simultaneous user’s. Now the club has a forth member: iMesh
iMesh has been around the P2P scence for a long time now. It dates back to the early days of Napster. Since then it has achieved huge success with the mainstream audience. Clocking up over 120 weeks in the download.com chart. A little help from FastTrack have helped enable it to cope with the increased demands placed by additional users.
Napster was the first every P2P clients to have over 1 million people logged into the system at one time. FastTrack (KaZaA, Grokster…) achieved this earlier this year with the rapid increase in KaZaA users. Frontcode Technologies in interviews have said that WinMX have over 1 million simultaneous users also. Now iMesh has joined KaZaA and WinMX as one of the few to have reached such heights of popularity.
