I heard from a very well informed source that the French guys who created RetSpan (a polluting system for P2P networks) are about to announce publicly a major partnership that will enable them to identify and track any P2P user in the world.
They have signed agreements with Internet authorities in order to legally access worldwide Internet database. There is nothing about it on their web site (www.retspan.info) but they are apparently going to make a press release soon about this matter.
They claim that RetSpan will use this data in the only aim to fight against online piracy. I hope so too! I tried to contact them but I had no answer…
Could these frogs be the first “online cops”? A kind of “P2P Interpol”*… Do we really have to fear anything? Is the RIAA behind this deal? Who knows…
* Interpol is the International Criminal Police Organization, located in Lyon (France)
