I was probably the most excited when hearing about the release FINALLY of Blubster 2.0. It is, without a doubt, my most anticipated release of a file-sharing client – EVER. So what do I think of it after finally seeing the light of day for it’s release…..? Hmm, I’m not so sure….
It didn’t’t start off well. I installed Blubster as soon as I got home after hearing about its release from school. As soon as it booted up – disaster struck: “We encountered an error and this application has to shut down”. My heart sank…
I then read the comments on Zeropaid about other people’s experiences – and most of them did say they were running into this same type of problem. I was then told by “Jorge” to try re-downloading the client. Fair enough….and surprisingly it did work.
All the functions worked brilliantly. The multi-sourced downloads were there, the hotlist was there – heck, there as even support for OGG Vorbis files!
But I’m still not convinced that this was the client was the release that everyone was waiting for. Memory and CPU usage was through the roof the more files I seemed to share. The playlist simply refused output any volume when I played a track. And there were terrible freeze-ups every now and then.
So was I disappointed…? Well yes and no. Yes because I felt that – after several long delays – these problems would be sorted out. But no as this client – and I still believe this – WILL be the ultimate Napster alternative. I still remember the early Napster days when there were bugs everywhere in the system – but just look how it did evolve. Blubster is a work-in-progress. I guess we’ll just have to wait a bit longer for the next betas to arrive for before we see it become everyone’s favorite client…
