Playstation 2, just recently being able to connect to the internet, is now additionally thinking of having its game console to record T.V. shows.
Fukunaga, spokesman for Sony, said Sony may offer tuner kits that would contain hardware to receive broadcasting signals, hard disks and software to run recording devices. It may also have built in tuners later on.
The new console is almost ready for release, and according to Fukunaga it should first be released in Japan. There are some problems which must first be reviewed though. For example, with this new feature, Sony’s DVD players may loose demand. Right now, Playstation2 has the ability to go on the internet with an internet navigator, through an Ethernet port. It also has, through this broadband kit, an additional 40GB hard drive disk.
