Diet Kaza 2.0 Beta Testing Begins

ok, a few people were asking about this, so i’ve posted the
latest version for beta testers, however, its not ready for
everyone yet (no installer).. for bugs reports, post in the bug
section..

Send me a PM if you would like to beta test this new version.
Only register users who are willing to provide
feedback will be allowed to test it. I have received word that
Kazaa is keeping a close watch on DK and I dont want DK 2.0
in their hands, yet.

1) whats new:

-new interface, new status window..

-now defaults to blocks ads and remove extra icons

-support for Kazaa 2.0 and KL 2.0
-blocks AltNet files properly
-stablizes Participation level to 1000 for Kazaa 2.0 (beta)
-option to auto remove Downloaded and Canceled files
-right click on DK tray icon opens Kazaa window (if loaded)*
-option to search for HQ (192) MP3s
-beta support for More Results with Kazaa v2.0 (read note
below)
-completely free (yes, thats right)

2) whats not done yet:

-lots of stuff, of course
-debugging 2.0, should be stable, but new features = new bugs

3) whats up with the More Results w/ Kazaa 2.0?

ok, so the sharman folks added some code to hard code limit
the number of More Results searches. the bad news is that
5000 search results with Kazaa 2.0 is out of the picture,
atleast
for the time being. the good news, i found trick to get about
600-800 results with Kazaa 2.0, instead of the 200-400 range.
please understand this trick isn’t perfect and isn’t going to
work everytime. and for this reason, i’ve made this a manual
feature. use it just like you would before with the “More
Results”
option from the DK tray menu. When you’ve finished a search,
and you’ve done your “More Results” from inside the Kazaa
client,
click on the DK tray icon “More Results” which will try to re-
enable

the “More Results” button inside of Kazaa, allowing you to
search for
a few hundred more. I’ve been able to use this trick on average

about 2-3 more times, producing 200-600 more results then
normally
allowed with Kazaa 2.0… remember this is *beta*.

4) Installation:

there is no installer for this beta version. unzip these files
on
top of your existing installation of Diet Kaza, if you have
one.

the following files are dependencies:

MSWINSCK.OCX
TABCTL32.OCX
COMDLG32.OCX

If you dont have them installed, DK 2.0 b1 will not work right
now.

Also, VB6 runtime files are needed. you should have those if
you have
Diet Kaza already installed. If you are missing TABCTL32.OCX,
then
you can get it here

Extract the .ocx to your WinSystem dir, and then regsvr32.exe
it.
