The long awaited, much heralded new version of Blubster has finally arrived. It is available at the soon to be revamped Blubster.com Blubster has recently passed the 50,000 user mark, despite delays in the new version. However all of Blubster 2.0s new features explain the reason development took a little longer than expected.
With 2.0 Blubster has become, perhaps the first ever 100% decentralized network. Unlike the current version (1.2.3), 2.0 it will not depend on servers, metaservers, gateways or host caches. Due to this, at this time Blubster will not enable non-UDP connection. The non-UDP connection would prevent the network from being able to be fully decentralized, so it is just too high a price right now.
Blubster 2.0 has many new features. The new feature that maybe the biggest surprise, is .OGG support. Blubster is the first music community to embrace the new open source format. Ogg Vorbis is considered superior to MP3 by many people. This is because Ogg Vorbis is capable of higher quality at smaller file size. Other new features include Multi-source downloading, decentralized Buddy List, Integrated IRC chat, Auto-Resume, and File Queuing. This will mean an end the hated error/canceled messages that have plagued the current version.
