New Digital Tv Signals due for 2006

Billy Tauzin, chairman of the House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee has announced that by 2006 TVs should receive digital signals from broadcasters. These TVs would have anti-piracy receivers specially built to receive these signals.
This is done to prevent the fraud of copyrighted shows, which are being shared in P2P networks.

In opposition, DVD manufacturers worry that this new requirement may bring down sales. Sales of these TV sets may come as soon as 2004. TVs 13inches and wider are required to have the digital tuners.
Personally, I think this sucks. But as always, there will be a way to get around this… we always find a way.
