The arrival of 3.3 has brought about a wide variety of reception. In our latest conversation with Frontcode Technologies, the long standing queue situation has been addressed, with some interesting countermeasures being developed.
Considering the questionable lifespan of a P2P network, WinMX has proven to be a veteran of the file-sharing community. Since the days of Napster, the ugly ducking of the file-sharing world grew from being just an OpenNap client to an independent P2P network. Not only has WinMX succeeded in this venture, they’ve managed to become one of the largest P2P networks to date, with mid-summer estimates placing the population at 1.2 million simultaneous users.
Like anything else in life, growing pains become unavoidable. Since the release of 3.3, many have generated concern over the performance and the lack of compatibility with previous clients. Kevin Hearn, President of Frontcode technologies was kind enough to answer some of the P2P community’s more pressing questions.
