“Seven major motion picture studios have filed a lawsuit in federal court against three defendants that run peer-to-peer file-swapping service Aimster. The suit alleges copyright infringement, unfair competition and trademark dilution.
The studios allege the defendants operate the Aimster network, which they say was designed and is operated to “facilitate and encourage millions of purportedly anonymous users to copy and distribute infringing copies of copyrighted works in potentially limitless numbers.”
