There are reports, confirmed by my own experience, that updating to Windows XP Service Pack 1 disables Kazaa Lite 1.7.2. The service pack, officially released Monday (but enterprising folks obtained it from Microsoft’s advanced support group) updates a large number of Windows XP operating system files. After the update, an attempt to run Kazaa Lite 1.7.2 failed here on repeated attempts, including after reinstallation. The program simply never loads.
As the service pack is released, be aware this might affect your use of Kazaa Lite, although it is early to claim this will always occur. You might want to wait a bit to see what others experience before upgrading yourself.
