Battles by the RIAA and MPAA against p2p file sharing have grabbed the headlines. There have also been many battles in regions of the world against p2p. Signapore and Japanese versions of the RIAA have had success against p2p applications, Australian authorities have invistigated KaZaA and Dutch authorities lost an appealed lawsuit against the former KaZaA owners.
One such regional lawsuit battle is taking place in Korea. Over the last 2 years a lawsuit has been taken place where the Korean recorded music industry have sued p2p file sharing application Soribada. Soribada recently lost their case. Establishing legal precedent in another country against p2p. However, Soribada have said that the court verdict only applies to centralized p2p and have converted Soribada into a decentralized application and relaunced it! It remains to be seen if the Korean Recording Authorities will decide to take action against the new decentralized version. Read more here
