Escient’s Fireball “is essentially a computer configured solely for music management. It includes a central processor with software, an internal modem, a remote control and a wireless keyboard; a monitor is not part of the package. Place a CD in the FireBall’s tray or in a CD changer connected to it, and through an online database it reads and catalogs the disc by artist, album, song and genre. The system also obtains lyrics, images of album covers and information about artists. The music collection can then be sorted by category and viewed on a monitor or TV set … The FireBall sells for about $2,000. A list of dealers and details about compatibility with other music devices can be found at www.escientconvergence.com/fireball.htm.”
