Silicon Valley company Audible Magic Corp. has purchased a monitoring technology from the now defunct ipArchive. Audible Magic’s aim is to identify P2P applications, its users, and files traded (audio and video), partly to help ISP manage bandwidth usage. Customers include performing rights organization SESAC (surely a partnership with RIAA is around the corner).
Audible Magic’s CEO is quoted as saying: “We will be investigating these, as they offer the prospect of providing IT administrators with valuable tools that can be used to address copyright and intellectual property issues.”
