Users of Freenet will be aware that the network has been suffering from a number of serious problems with respect to overloading. It now turns out that the problem might have been caused by the very code that was intended to prevent it. A recent resurgance in development activity has resulted in a number of major bugfixes over the past few days which will hopefully address this problem. Freenet users are advised to upgrade to the latest snapshot. Those that which to try out some of the latest functionality for dealing with overloading should set the maximumThreads option in their freenet.conf or freenet.ini file to -1.
