The Madster (formally known as Aimster) suit is back on following a lifting of a stay on the case. A stay was put in place when the owner of Madster/AbovePeer filled for bankruptcy. This means that a Judge can now reach a preliminary injunction in the case.
The RIAA welcomed the ruling saying ‘We look forward to the court’s ruling on our request that Madster halt the massive copyright infringement occurring on its site’ . Madster also welcomed the ruling saying that the decision limits the scope of the hearings that can held in Chicago, thereby limiting the drain on his finances . Read the full story here
The RIAA is currently involved in litigation against 5 companies that run p2p programs. Well at least there are 5 big suits going on. They are against StreamCast Networks (Morpheus), Napster, KaZaA BV (former KaZaA owners), Grokster Ltd and Madster. The RIAA is also known to be pursuing Sharman Networks and the FastTrack creators.
