RIAA To Sue Sharman Networks & FastTrack Creators

The RIAA is set to expand its FastTrack lawsuit to include Sharman Networks and FastTrack founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis. The FastTrack lawsuit was fastly becoming irrelevant because 2 of the 3 named companies (KaZaA BV/Consumer Empowerment and Streamcast Networks) no longer have anything to do with FastTrack. By expanding the suit to include the founders (who now operate the protocol under Bailtrose Ltd) and Sharman Networks (current owners of KaZaA) they now have the suit covering most FastTrack companies with the exception of iMesh and Altnet Inc, both of whom have a licence from Bailtrose Ltd. However, Zennstrom is know for his skills in getting around lawsuits and nobody seems to know the physical location of Sharman Networks (although it is registered to an offshore island) so it may not be the easy to add to the FastTrack suit. The FastTrack case is back in court on October 1. Read more on the story here.
