The creator of eDonkey released the first beta version of his new software that is being dubbed VarVar.
From Website
Its underlying design, has already laid the way to a new kind of Internet service and infrastructure the PEER WEB. This refers to a network of common users who can not only retrieve information (e.g. browse web-sites) but also publish rich content of their own (web-sites, art, services, etc.) to the world without requiring expensive equipment or fast, uninterrupted Internet connection. The design of this network also allows for the implementation of very effective search and classification algorithms.
Our goal in developing VARVAR is to put together a selection of mature and well-founded algorithms from the area of peer-to-peer computing, in order to push the limits of what we can do with the Internet. The core algorithms underlying VARVAR are authored by ourselves and Prof. David Mazières of New York University, others are taken from various other authors in the field.
We hope you will enjoy playing with VARVAR and be patient with it, as it is likely that there is a good number of bugs during its baby days.
VarVar is leased by MetaMachines, which is the creator of eDonkey, aka Jed.
