KaZaA BV is believed to be on the verge of bankruptcy. KaZaA BV are former owners of KaZaA and now appear also to be former controllers of the FastTrack protocol. It is believed that a company called Blastoise operating under the name Joltid now controls the protocol. The owners of Blastoise/Joltid are the same as KaZaA BV/Consumer Empowerment. It seems to be another clever move by them to get around court verdicts.
This has implications for the RIAA court case against KaZaA BV, Streamcast Networks and Grokster Ltd set to hit court on October 1. KaZaA BV has conceding defeat in the case against the RIAA. There is also bad news from Streamcast Networks. They have lost a key attorney simply because they can’t afford him. Streamcast have said that the case is in jeopardy of collapsing simply from the financial attrition of the defendants before a decision on the merits can be reached . However, the case is NOT over Streamcast Networks and Grokster Ltd have not dropped out. To read more on this story click here.
