The FastTrack network, with about 1.8 million users online at any time in the last weeks, suddenly dropped to about 400 thousand users sometime around yesterday or today, as reported on all the clients’ status bars (KaZaA, Grokster and KaZaA Lite). Reports are flooding in forums like FastTrack Central, DSLReports and Napsterites.
What happened? Speculations include a turn-on of BDE’s Altnet, or users leaving KaZaA in favor of the new WinMX 3.1. Or maybe it’s just a hiccup in KaZaA’s servers, causing us to see the number of online iMesh users (which is normally about 400K and normally shows on iMesh clients which are also connected to FastTrack) instead of the overall number of users?
