Facebook releases updated versions of Messenger and Facebook apps, sporting improved designs and added features like instant photo uploading.
Let’s face it (pun intended): Facebook has become an integral part of how we communicate and socialize with others. Facebook is now how browse photo albums of distant relatives and friends, find out what they’re up to, and share with them the same in kind.
Facebook Inc. has made sure to satisfy the social networking needs of its users by constantly upgrading, improving, and redesigning its online and mobile platforms, and today that was the case for its mobile platform for Android in particular.
Facebook has released updated versions of its Messenger and Facebook apps that each sport improved designs and added features that are sure to make the mobile Facebook experience even better.
For the Messenger app, Facebook Inc. gave it a dramatic new redesign and made it much easier to see who’s online, and communicate with family and friends on the go.
“With today’s new design for Messenger, the friends you message most are just a swipe away,” writes Facebook in a blog post.
“Now you can swipe your finger to the left anywhere in the app to see who’s available and send a message. You can also add the friends you message most to the top of your Favorites so they’re easily accessible,” it adds.
And for some Android phones, you can now text your contacts right from the Messenger, keeping all your texts and Facebook messages together in one place, and presumably saving the allotment of monthly texts allowed by your monthly wireless plan.
As for the updated version of the Facebook for Android app, users can now enjoy a Google+ and Dropbox-like photo-syncing feature that will automatically upload your pics into a private Facebook album. From there you can either share the pics with your Facebbok friends or keep your pics hidden from everyone, but yourself. Think of it as a free image backup option in the cloud.
Auto-photo syncing is enabled by default, but you can choose to limit syncing to Wi-Fi only to save on data consumption or turn it off entirely.
All in all, Facebook users with Android devices have much to be thankful for this time around.
Stay tuned.
