Matt: Hey guys! As you know, I’m Matt from Zeropaid.com.
I am going to ask you guys some questions. Anything goes.
Matt: First off, what do both of you do for Zeropaid.com?
Chris: everything
Jorge: lol true. we do the essentials.
Chris: I mean we both do everything, we each do a little of everything.
Jorge: We are zeropaid.
Matt: heh, ok. Which one pays for it?
Chris: In the beginning we used to have to cover its expenses, but now ad revenue pretty much covers all the serving and bandwidth costs. We pay for it in terms of time.
Matt: In terms of features, what do you think makes Zeropaid.com unique?
Jorge: we’re not just gnutella or napster or kazaa, zeropaid is and always will be about file sharing.
Chris: A voice for the community, we want the users to be the ones in the spotlight.
Jorge: The neat thing about Zeropaid and file sharing is how the p2p community communicates, we are your median.
Matt: What features do you plan to add to Zeropaid.com?
Chris: We are adding a hardware section, and a developers section so program owners can input and update their own information.
Jorge: So information is always up-to date and accurate, straight from the developers.
Matt: Sounds like a plan! But will developers actually do their part?
Chris: If they don’t want to administer their own pages, we will continue doing what we currently do for their program, but most developers appreciate the opportunity to promote their product.
Jorge: We think, I mean if you had a chance to put your software on our site, wouldn’t you? It can only help promote their p2p software, if its a good piece of software. It will help shape Zeropaid into a more robust site allowing network owners to manage their zeropaid image and content.
Matt: Of course, I don’t have software, but I interview the guys that do, and I KNOW that they would love to have whatever they can on Zeropaid.com.
Matt: With over 100,000 users Zeropaid.com is THE leading file sharing portal to date. It was also the first, correct?
Chris: I think so, there were a few gnutella sites up around the same time, but we were the first to take a step back and look at all of p2p. All we really did was follow what users were asking for. they didn’t want to be limited to just gnutella.
Matt: And all the users, for the exception of U.S. Taliban, thank you for it.
Matt: Flaming is a large problem on news stories. When someone posts a beta for The Qube, you always get people saying, “The Qube sucks”. That is not constructive criticism. Anything to solve that problem?
Chris: I feel its just an expression of the community. They aren’t programmers who can give him tips on his program… well most of them anyways. And his program does suck. he needs to put more work into it. he is talented but unprofessional and the community is telling him that. In a way, it is constructive criticism.
Jorge: One of the biggest hurdles ZP faces is development time, this type of flaming is a direct result of simply not having all the time in the world.
Matt: Anything you can divulge to the rest of the world?
Jorge: Getting the BBS out was a huge hurdle, thanks to Chris we finally got it to our users. I think we will start to attract more users on a daily basis just because of our phat bbs.
Matt: Ok, in terms of privacy, is a Zeropaid.com user private?
Chris: A Zeropaid user’s information is private, unless they choose to share any of their personal information.
Matt: When does the BBS go live? There are still links that post to the old forums. For example the Dr. Fileshare.
Chris: yeah *cough* we are working on those. please report all bugs to info@zeropaid.com.
Matt: So do you guys go to UCSD? Or just live down there for the heck of it?
Jorge: Why go to school if you can teach yourself what you need to know all while getting paid? would you still go to school?
Chris: hah i was born here.. and I don’t go to school. I live here because San Diego is the greatest place on earth.
Jorge: Have you ever been to SD? if you have you would know.
Matt: What do you think the future of file sharing is?
Chris: XoloX.
Jorge: Simplicity.
Matt: Why? I like XoloX too, but I’m just wondering.
Matt: Gnucleus takes too long too learn I feel. But it’s very powerful once you master it.
Chris: Actually i think it is the future because of the recent court ruling in the Netherlands. Gnucleus has people (John Marshall) that you can go after in the US, even if it is under the GPL.
Matt: So will we see more interviews here on Zeropaid.com?
Chris: Sure, I will do some interviews.
Matt: The big question is: Will they be as good as mine? Heh, I’m sure they will, if not better much better.
Matt: I want to thank you both for taking the time to let me interview you, and I want to thank you both for giving me the opportunity to help Zeropaid.com. I’ll let you guys get going, happy B-day Jorge, and thanks again you guys for letting me help.
