BitTorrent Releases uTorrent for Android

BitTorrent users can now download content directly to their mobile device using the new uTorrent for Android Beta.

Up until now, most BitTorrent users have been unable to download content directly to their mobile Android device. Nearly all the apps that are out there are merely remote control mechanisms for desktop PC-based clients. The new uTorrent for Android Beta app changes all of that by finally offering BitTorrent users a reliable, easy-to-use, and widely accessible BitTorrent app for downloading content directly to Android mobile devices.

“A while back we introduced µTorrent Remote for Android which allows users to manage their torrents from their phone,” writes BitTorrent Inc. in a blog post. “We received a lot of great feedback, but the most popular question was:  ‘When will a fully featured µTorrent Client be available for Android?'”

Well, that time has finally come, and a “fully featured uTorrent client” for Android is now available in the Google Play store. Now you can find torrents and download them directly to your mobile smartphone or tablet device.

And just like a desktop BitTorrent client you can subscribe to RSS feeds, play content and more.

Other features of uTorrent for Android Beta include:

  • Fast, easy on-the-go downloading of torrents
  • No speed or size caps on downloads (mobile data limits still apply)
  • Instant access to our growing library of featured content

“The first generation of this powerful new app is designed to be easy-to-use, super-fast, and make your Android device so much more fun,” adds BitTorrent Inc.

The µTorrent for Android Beta is, as are all other uTorrent clients,  currently free, but the company does caution that you should be mindful of running up your data charges, and so try to take advantage of a Wi-Fi connection whenever possible.
