Adblocker for iPhone jailbreak tweak allows users to block annoying ads in both browsers and ad-supported apps.
Adblock browser extensions have been blocking annoying ads on desktop browsers for some time now, and the same tool is now also available for mobile iOS users via the Adblocker for iPhone jailbreak tweak. AdBlocker is an easy to use and powerful tool that is similar to the extensions for your desktop browser.
The Adblocker for iPhone jailbreak tweak allows you to almost entirely remove all ads from both your browsers as well as specific apps of your choosing, the latter option being nice if you frequently use ad-supported apps that want you to upgrade to a premium version in order to remove them.
With the Adblocker for iPhone jailbreak tweak you can remove ads on your own without having to pay for the upgrade. AdBlocker is an easy to use and powerful tool, similar to extensions for your desktop browser.
“It blocks ads in Safari and other apps which are using browser-like views (UIWebView),” note the developers. “If an app is using UIWebViews to display content (other browsers like Skyfire, browser in a twitter client,…) AdBlocker will block ads from being loaded and tries to optimize the space.”
By blocking image-based ads, the Adblocker for iPhone jailbreak tweak will also speed up your page loading times and reduce your overall data usage. If you have a limited mobile data plan you’ll be able to save your money for more important things like beer and cigarettes.
“AdBlocker is very fast, regex-based tool and can handle lists with thousands of entries without noticeable slowing down the apps,” continue the developers. “Lists for 17 languages are build in, but you can easily add custom lists. Just google ‘adblock lists’ to find urls.”
So how do you get it and get it to work? It’s easy. Once your iPhone is jailbroken (easy-to-follow guide here), go to the Cydia store (via the app) and enter “Adblocker” in the search query. Now you can either pay $2.19 for a legit copy or you can get a free copy from “HackYouriPhone.”
To get a free copy go to > Manage > Sources > Edit > Add > “repo.hackyouriphone.org”.
Whichever you choose, select the option followed by “Install.” Follow the prompt to “Restart Springboard” and then navigate back to your iPhone’s settings. In Settings select Adblocker and make sure it’s “Enabled.” Notice too that there’s the “Other Apps” option at the bottom. There you can choose individual apps to block ads in.
So if you’re looking for a way to block ads on your mobile iOS device like you do with your desktop browser then the Adblocker for iPhone jailbreak tweak might just be what you’re looking for.
Stay tuned.
