Last year the mexican senate reject ACTA, almost unanimously.

This was not only by the left, but by the three main political forces: PAN; PRI and PRD. No only that, but they intructed President Calderon NOT to continue any negociation.

President Calderon acted on his own giving the order to the mexican ambasador in Japan to Sign ACTA, but he did it against the will of the congress, so this signing is an empty gesture, since it will not be ratify by the congress. Not even presindent Calderon party, PAN support this.

After the elections there will be a new congress, so the current one can not act on the outgoing president, but there is hardly a chance the new congress will ratify it.

Currently NO political force in Mexico is supporting the treaty. Only some people at the IMPI (Mexican institute of Intelectual protection).

This is just a publicity stunt in order to look as if the mexican goverment had aprooved it since it will take a few months in order then new congress would reunite. But there is little chance it will be finally aprooved.

This is a result of the new party in power, since its backed by a former "all capitalism" former president, It is no surprise that Mexico will start a very quick process towards pure capitalism, incluiding the opressive state part, which in Mexico is not uncommon.
This however won't stop people from joinning informal/pirate economy which in Mexico stands for more than 60% of the economy.
If you are not going to be able to download anything you can easily buy it in the streets, as always.

No surprise to me - Mexico has been part of the North American Union since 2005 (along with Canada). Don't know about the NAU yet? Look it up!
