Free music streaming service adds 12 new, free apps to help users “uncover even more musical experiences.”
Spotify, the Sweden-based music streaming service launched in 2008 and introduced in the USjust last year, is making it even easier for users to discover new music with the launch of 12 more free apps. The FREE, ON-DEMAND music streaming service with over 15 million tracks to choose from says the new apps will help users “uncover even more musical experiences.”
Already what I consider to be among the top 10 free music streaming services around, Spotify’s app store now offers a total of 25 apps in all, ranging from TuneWiki’s synced lyrics feature which allows you to sing along with your favorite song to Billboard’s Top Charts which gives you access to the latest and greatest the music world has to offer.
New apps include:
- The Complete Collection - Iconic artists, original artwork – look and listen.
- TweetVine - Listen to the music that’s trending with the #nowplaying tag.
- Classify – Easy access to the wonderful world of classical music.
- The Legacy Of - Life-changing music.
- Filtr – Playlist generator with a social twist.
- Def Jam - Master mixes from Def Jam artists, producers, and tastemakers.
- Domino - Experience the world of indie with Domino.
- The Warner Sound - Uncover songs, albums, and playlists from Warner Music Group’s outstanding roster of artists.
- Hot or Not - Is the song hot or not. You decide. Vote now.
- Digster - Fresh playlists by your favorite artists and for any occasion.
- [PIAS] - Discover the very best new albums and expertly curated playlists with [PIAS].
- Matador - Get the latest releases and tour dates.

My favorite app ties into another of the top 10 free music streaming services – We Are Hunted. The We Are Hunted app further expands your music discovery potential, and when leveraged with your own music library the possibilities are endless.
Another great “legacy” app is Mood Agent. Choose from 4 quick-launch icons to choose a mood-based playlist (sensual, tender, happy, angry) or search for a track for which to base a mood-themed playlist of your own.
Spotify is also available as a free music streaming app for Android and iPhone.
Stay tuned.
