New case filed in Omaha, Nebraska accuses individual of illegally “making available” 9 audio files.
Despite claims of “peace in our time,” according to Ray Beckerman of Recording Industry vs the People, the RIAA is still suing suspected file-sharers. In documents filed in the Federal District Court in Omaha, Nebraska, defendant Shaun Adams is accused of illegally “making available” 9 copyrighted audio files using Limewire back on March 8th, 2007.
Now RIAA head Mitch Bainwol has said previously that the RIAA would not initiate any new file-sharing cases, and merely finish those already in progress. The cutoff date was last August however, and a number of the cases, such as this one against Adams, weren’t even filed yet.
So it makes one wonder if the whole “no more lawsuits” promise isn’t some sort of preconceived PR campaign to make people think it’s mended it’s ways when it really hasn’t. It can continue to sue suspected file-sharers and claim that it’s merely finishing up those that were already in the works. Trouble is, the RIAA has about as much credibility as George W. Bush.
Stay tuned.

Well thats no big suprise
The claim is based on 9 separate files but the total number of downloads under that IP was 901. They have been watching this guy for a while. As far as RIAA’s claim that they will not be any further lawsuits I would place that into a fantasy section.
It’s 9 not 901….read exhibit A
Common Soul can’t take Notbob’s jibs?
Anyway the RIAA isn’t suing people anymore now they are litigating them.
I wish I wasnt so lame and had better things to do with my sad lonely existence. Anybody want to be my friend?
I’ve skimmed through the PDF and yes it does say 901 but look at Exhibit A and you’ll see only 9 identified audio files even though it says there are 901 audio files in question. Yes the article took the complaint out of context a little but one has to wonder why say 901 when there is only “evidence” of 9 files. I’ve made the correction anyway.
Added to this this is merely a cosmetic correction as the point of the article was to point out that the RIAA lied when they said they would end their lawsuit campaign.
I love you soulxtc!
