A US Defense contractor has reportedly leaked classified military information about Marine One, President Barack Obama’s helicopter.
Triversa, an Internet security monitor headquartered in Pennsylvania, reported late Saturday that a US Defense contractor’s errant use of a file-sharing network has disclosed sensitive Marine One information, including ‘entire blueprints, engineering upgrades, avionic schematics’.
Bob Boback, Triversa CEO, said an employee at the defense company was probably using a peer-to-peer file-sharing program – such as LimeWire or BearShare– without realizing that it would allow outside access to top secret data.
“What appears to be a defense contractor in Bethesda, MD had a file sharing program on one of their systems that also contained highly sensitive blueprints for Marine One,” Boback said. Tiversa also found information detailing the cost of Marine One.
“When downloading one of these file-sharing programs, you are effectively allowing others around the world to access your hard drive,” he added.
The Pittsburgh-area company claimed that it became aware of the serious security gaffe after it found the blueprints and avionics information at a computer network in Tehran.
Retired General Wesley Clark, meanwhile, said that sensitive military information have been previously leaked to countries such as China, Pakistan, Yemen, and Qatar.
“They are actively searching for information that is disclosed in this fashion because it is a great source of intelligence,” said Clark, who currently serves as a senior military adviser to Tiversa.
Clark went on to affirm that the person responsible for the Marine One leakage has been identified and faces the risk of expulsion.

P2P has been around for years, and security breaches do occassionally happen…with or without P2Pnetworks. As for the socialist agenda, Obama is probably one of the closest things we’ve ever to a socialist president. As much as the socialist thing scares me, I’m pretty sure we’ll make it. I said Obama is ‘one of’, bailouts (although not this drastic) have happened before, and other presidents have had the thought of government healthcare. While I personally don’t agree with it, and don’t want to sit in an ER like I would at a health department. **Envisions woman behind counter yelling, “Number 27!!! This is the last time I’m calling NUMBER 27!!!!!”** I don’t believe that this was “leaked” to undermine P2P networks. Why don’t we go play with some more conspiracy theories???
