Pinterest Pin It Button: Chrome Extension for Sending Images to Your Pinboards

Pinterest Pin It Button is a Google Chrome extension that simplifies the process of sending images from any website to your pinboards on Pinterest.

Pinterest is a pinboard-styled social photo-sharing site where users “pin” images that link to their favorite things on the Interwebs. Launched as a closed beta with just a few thousand users back in 2010, site traffic has gown dramatically since then to some 11 million total visits per week, becoming the 16th-most visited site in the US. The way it works is that when you find an image of something you like you then “pin” it to one of your Pinterest pinboards. You can choose from the ones automatically generated when you signup (invite only at the moment) or you can create your won custom-themed pinboards.

“Pinterest lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web,” says the site. “People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes.”

Pinterest Pin It Button is a Google Chrome extension that makes using Pinterest even easier, simplifying the task of pinning images to your pinboards by allowing you to do it on the page where you found it rather than having to have to navigate back to Pinterest.com. It also displays every image on the page at once so that you don’t have to scroll trough them all one by one to find the image you want to pin.

Once you find something you want to share select the icon in the browser toolbar. It will will display all the images on the page, one of which you will slect.

Once you’ve selected an image it wil generate a “Create Pin” window where you “Describe your pin” and choose one of your pinboards from the dropdown menu to pin it to (or create a new one).

And here’s the new pin….

Unfortunately, Pinterest is still invite-only, but you can request an invite here.

Stay tuned.
