iTSync has a main function is to synchronize the users folders with the current iTunes playlist. Before synchronization, the user can specify the depth of the search, to ensure that iTSync will find any scattered songs.  At the end of synchronization, iTSync will display the number of songs in iTunes, the number of directories used to populate iTunes, and the number of missing songs. Any files missing from the current playlist will be listed in an easy to use listbox, which gives the user the ability to add files directly to iTunes or remove the files permanently from the user's hard drive.

iTSync will also list the missing songs and unknown directories found while synchronizing, in an easy to see text file or html page. This function gives the user an ability to dynamically update and control what songs enter iTunes without having to constantly search for newly added songs. What is the purpose of iTSync?

iTSync is for users that require an easier method of constantly updating their playlist, rearranging how they store their MP3's and storing their songs in multiple directories. iTSync is created to simplify the synchronization of the iTunes playlist and to give the user the power and convenience to do what they want with their playlist without the worry of upsetting or misplacing songs.

Tracks without a playlist

iTSync has the ability to look through all tracks in iTunes and each user-defined playlist to find any tracks that are not allocated to any user defined playlist.  iTSync then populates a listbox with all the missing tracks and gives the user the option to output the list of tracks to an html file as well as . This is simply one more power feature that enables users to streamline their iTunes library and playlist to their own particular desire.

Duplicate Tracks

Many users of iTSync found that the duplicate track feature in iTunes version 4.8 was not adequate for their needs. Not only does iTSync find the same tracks but it makes the removal of duplicate tracks a lot easier, a task that was not as simple with the original iTunes. Also, this feature is not just limited to users of iTunes 4.8. Anyone with an iTunes version greater than 4.6 can use it as well.

Remove Dead Tracks

Dead tracks occur in iTunes when a source file is moved from its original location but is never updated. Thus, iTunes keeps that track in the playlist but cannot play the track due to the missing file. iTSync will look for all the dead tracks in iTunes and remove them from the playlist. This is yet another efficient function built into iTSync that gives users the ability to dynamically control their playlist.

Some of the latest features of iTSync are:

• Fixed compatibility issues with iTunes 5.0 and greater

• New scanning choices that scan either the basic iTunes Library only directories or all of the iTunes Library directories as well as the subdirectories. This option defaults to all of the iTunes Library directories as well as the subdirectories.

• Users can now specify the type of output files, either the basic text format or the new easy to read HTML format. This option defaults to the text format
