HTTP Commander

HTTP Commander is a web based file manager for Microsoft IIS web servers, written in ASP.NET. Its interface looks the same as Windows Explorer. Web based file manager HTTP Commander was programmed for Microsoft Internet Explorer 5+, Opera 6+, Netscape 6+, all Mozilla/Firefox, Safari and Konqueror browsers. Available OS on client side: Windows, Linux and Mac OS. Version for Active Directory include:secure NTLM authentication and automatically authorize users based on their security group membership, intelligent web interface, allows users remotely access their personal or common folders.

Some of the main features of the program include:

  • Multiple Files Upload via Flash movie (only in Standard version) with progress bar. Flash movie uses standard HTTP protocol.
  • Files and Folders MetaData (Advanced properties) using NTFS streams technology. Users can add descriptions, authorship, date expiration and any other properties to files and folders. Files keeps their properties after copy or move actions.
  • This festure allows to add your own specific features like deleting files after date expiration or any other.
  • Users activity logs.
  • Zipping/UnZipping files, viewing zip files . Extracting whole archive or only some items from it. Deleting items in archive.
  • Disk Quota. Limitation of the maximum size of the root directory (Only in Standard version)
  • Fastest like local file manager: Dynamic pages has very short code. JavaScripts files and images which stored in users browser cache shows the interface on the client's side, which makes HTTP Commander fit for dialup connections and slow servers.
  • Multiple items selection. You can select the files and directories you need with the Mouse, CTRL and SHIFT Keys
  • Fast and comfortable Context Menu and Drop-Down Menu.
  • Multilingual interface. English, Spanish, and Russian are already supported. Other languages can be easy added.
  • Most known browsers support. Internet Explorer, Opera, Netscape, Mozilla/Firefox, Safari, Konqueror and some other based on Mozilla core.

The main requirements of the HTTP Commander program are:

  • The browser has to be RFC 1867 compatible in order to upload files.
  • HTTP Commander tested and works correct in Internet Explorer 5, 5.5, 6,
  • Opera 6, 7, 8, Netscape 6, 7, 8, Safari, Konqueror, Mozilla/Firefox 0.9, 1.0, 1.2, 1.5 and may be in other based on specified browsers core. Some of the browsers has minor limitations.
  • 800×600+ screen capacity (1024×768 recommended)
  • JavaScript and Cookies (only "session Cookie" in Internet Explorer, "for the originating site" in Mozilla/FireFox) should be enabled by your browser
