AUSTIN (AP) - The Texas House passed a bill that would make it a criminal offense for public servants to inappropriately touch travelers during airport security pat-downs.

Approved late Thursday night, the measure makes it illegal for anyone conducting searches to touch “the anus, sexual organ, buttocks, or breast of another person” including through clothing.

It also prohibits searches “that would be offensive to a reasonable person.”

Such will inevitably bite you in the ass.
Not if, but when it happens, please spare us your posting on how terrible such and event it was.
I WILL HOLD YOU TO THAT REGARLESS OF THE LOSS!!!!!!!!!

Sorry to say it but "Good Luck!!! You will need it my friend.

    Lastly, define reasonable person?
Do you mean reasonable for the entire republic, or the narrow mind very of a reasonable person in TX?

Oh and don't forget I lived there sir.

Been thinking of replying, going to now.

I really wish my name was Richard.

Just like death, it is inevitable.

And when it happens, when it originates from Texas flight, I will not say a damn word. Not one.

Until then, continue believing the gov't is here to protect you. The protect us just about as much as Ranchers protect their steer..til slaughter. The Gov't does not care about you, does not care about me, only about how much money they can steal from us, that's it.

As far as I can tell, the TSA has not done a damn thing. Not one. Every flight since TSA beginnings, that has had a terrorist attempt, passengers have stopped it. Most of them originating overseas.

Do not need luck. Stats are on my side. Better luck being struck by lightning, than dying on a plane by a terrorist.

I would think most reasonable people, MOST, do not feel their groping sessions performed by the Gov't sponsored molesters are worth the hassle of flying. They have to fly to get to a certain place in time, so they have no choice.

Before you say you have a choice of taking a train, the federal gov't is talking about implementing the same checks to board a train, ie, going through the molestation gauntlet.

Unfortunately these same people do not see this as a violation of "Unreasonable Search and Seizure". Just because they bought a plane ticket does not mean they lose that right. If they go through a puffer and it picks up traces of explosives, then so be it, pat them down. There is a REASON to search them. If the TSA actually used dogs to search those in line and the dog picked up something, then search them. Probable cause. Just because you bought a plane ticket does not mean the gov't can touch you any way they see fit.

Depending on where you lived in TX you might run into crazies. Despite what most people hear about Texans, they are pretty much like anyone else in the country. Yeah, they are proud of their State, but who isn't. And no, I am not from here, I am from the hell hole of Sacramento. Will never go back.

That provision is to deal with the use of nude body scanners.

    As for the TSA...

A TSO arrested for kidnapping and attempted rape of a minor in ATL.

The hostage taking by an ABQ TSO in NM that ended in a police shootout.

The conviction of a PHL TSO for theft of laptop computers.

TSO fired after attack on traveler in parking lot at ORD.

Two TSA screeners and Managers arrested for drug use while at work in LAX.

HNL TSA worker arrested in theft of cash from travelers.

The arrest of a MEM TSO for attempted theft of a laptop computer.

The arrests of a JFK TSO and LTSO for the theft $160,000 from checked baggage.

The conviction of a EWR TSO for theft of $39,000 from passenger’s bags.

The Buffalo TSO was arrested for drug trafficking.

The arrest of a EWR TSO for impersonating a CBP police officer.

RIC TSA Officer Bob Seashols Admits Plot to Post Porn on Christian Site.

TSA screener pleads guilty to theft in Las Vegas.

TSO Arrested for Rape of a 14 year old in Londonderry, NH.

PHL TSA Screener Charged with Child Pornography.

Twenty one criminal acts, eighteen security failures, 4,000+ groping complaints and dozens of lawsuits just in the past five months alone.

Now I don't know about you, but I'm way more paranoid of the criminal, unconstitutional, TSA than of an airplane getting hijacked or blown out of the fucking sky by any terrorist.

Might want to check those stats Poot. All those supposed incidnets happend when they went from government run to contracted privatized personnel.

Makes you think does it not. Privatized worryies about the bottom line. Not your rights, safety or health. Who would have guessed.

AI: Maybe all those incidetns happended over seas because their security is shit compared to ours.

Then again I am sure you never looked at that side. Just the one that wants to slam this nation under a less then idealogical one that agrees with you.

Do not forget that not only did I live in TX but was in the same branch of the millitary as your wife and lived in the same town.
The ideas expounded on nationally in my area were the same through out the state.
If I recall since the civil war not one state has talked of secceeding from the union. That is till now, and guess what state that is?
Here is a hint. The Gov. name is Rick Perry.

Lets see you Texas two step around those points of fact.

    TH-th-th-th-th-thats all folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was in Europe during the 80's, I remember the airports having military personnel with dogs sniffing every person in line. Maybe that has changed. Hell, I remember the border security from country to country in Europe put ours to shame.

Another thought as to why they are originating overseas, maybe the terrorists are paying off certain personnel in the airport to get through screening. Maybe, just maybe, there are sympathizers that would love nothing more than to see the USA brought to its knees.

And every increase in security stateside, has be reactionary. Shoe bomber, now we have to take off our shoes. Guys mixing explosive liquids, nothing over 3.5oz in your carry on bags, the guy trying to blow his penis off, molestation at the airports.

And the TSA wouldn't be so laughable if they could ACTUALLY catch people carrying unauthorized items on the plane. There have been many incidents were people have unknowingly carried firearms on the the plane, after it has been through the Ion Scanner. I don't know how you could miss it. One of my first duties at the Air Force Academy was checking all of the packages going to the Cadet Area and trust me, you can see EVERYTHING in the box.

No, I just slam every failed policy this current administration carried over from the last.

Well, you haven't been here in a while then. Austin and San Antonio is Democrat, bordering Liberal. The only red areas are bases and various housing around San Antonio with retired Military.

Seceding, not going to happen. It can't. So the people talking about it are nuts. No state can secede, remember, the federal gov't has them buy the proverbial balls.

    Yup, sure makes you think.

Only 11 airports are "privatized" with the TSA and DHS still having regulatory authority over ALL of them, privatized or not.

So no guessing or surprises, the responsibility for TSO's hiring and training falls in the lap of the government TSA and DHS, which is just part of one of the biggest terrorist organizations on the planet, USA, Inc.

Odds are greater you will be sexually assaulted by your own government way before you will ever meet up with an actual Allahu Akbar screaming nutjob on a plane.

I'd rather take my chances with the nutjob than have to deal anymore with the government sanctioned, real criminals who are wearing theater costumes while running "checkpoints" at the airport.

Might want to check your info. It is 16 states that have privatized. To add credibilty to you accusations Poot please back up the following.
Your generalization does not name the airports where these so called incidents accord. Perhaps they were under such privatized ones. Next there is no date as to when these supposed incidents happened.
Statements with out facts or specifics have been the halmark of the right side wingnuts for the last 30+ years.
If you can not document these supposed incidents then they are no more reliable then your local op/ed writer in your local paper.

From the last admin. that you on a consistant bases praised and defended till the day it left.
I believe the word that discribes such is hypocritical.

Please check the colors on your map. It is way red "dude". Maybe if it would listen to the millitary retired people in those so called liberal areas we would not have had to put up with the shit we do now.
What a fucking coincident that the retired millitary people are in the same age group as me and not during the fucking "kill them all and let god sort them out" era of the Reagan years.
    SUCH AS YOUSELF!!!!!!!!

You put alot of "mayby's (baseless supposition and lacking in facts) as to airport security problems.
Once again the halmark if the right side wingnuts.

Your own Pro-Teabag Gov. is the one who put the seceding from the union to the nation. Not your small liberal side ideal counties.

Lastly, you do not want to put the Reagan years up as a the grand ideal of the millitary AI. I have a more fact based and less propaganda info then you.

If you feel up to it go for it. Maybe it is time for a history lesson based on facts and not what one thinks has happened

DISCLAIMER: This one is from the NYT. Shows the same results. http://elections.nytimes.com/2008/results/states/texas.html

Yeah, okay. That's why I railed against the bailouts. Let institutions fail. One of the few things the current administration continued. Especially the bailout of GM and Chrysler, which was just a Union payoff.

If have actually read some of my post over the last couple years, I can remember me saying that we need to leave EVERY country that we are in. EVERY one of them. I think I also said, "FUCK the rest of the world." We need to be a Isolationist Country with everything except Economic. And I cannot wait until a politician actually gives the rest of the world the middle finger closes down all bases outside the US and brings all the Troops home. I would vote for that person regardless of political affiliation.

I said democrat bordering on Liberal. In San Antonio. The reason I live in a retirement area of sorts for Military is because I get to hear stories of how every administration has fucked them over. All of them have the same view of the Gov't. The Gov't does not give a shit about its people. And the other is because it is kind of like the 1950's, where I can leave my doors unlocked on my vehicles and house and not have to worry about any of my stuff being stolen.

On the Maybe's part. I am only suggesting as to why or how people with nefarious plans can possibly get through security with those items. Explosives show up as certain colors on the ION Scanners, puffers if they are used, can detect traces of explosives. If those individuals can get through the airport with those items it means one of two things, the security didn't use the proper items to detect, or those with nefarious plans payed them off.

Don't call Gov Perry my Gov. I didn't vote for him. I voted for the Green Party guy. I actually threw all of my votes away this past election for Texas. Stop calling me some republican shill when you have no idea how I vote. On top of that I didn't vote for Obama or McCain...I can't remember who was on the ticket, but it was a throw away vote as well.

As for the history lesson. I'll pass, I had enough indoctrination in school.

You are correct, 11 airports was only my typo, it is 16 airports.

But either 11 or 16 airports, it doesn't matter whether the airports are privatized or not as to where these incidents occurred.

The TSA and DHS are the regulating US agency and Department and as such are solely responsible for the actions of ALL TSO's.

As for generalizing, you better read the list again as every specific incident listed above also lists the airport involved, and as for dates just those incidents alone have all been in the last 5 months, compiling 2011, with complaints filed not just with the ACLU, but EPIC and TSA as well.

TSA Could Ban Flights From Texas If State Passes Anti-Patdown Law

A showdown is in the works over an anti-patdown law, which the Texas House of Representatives recently approved by a unanimous vote. Texas legislators say the rule is needed because existing laws "let government employees fondle innocent women, children and men."

The Department of Justice has sent a letter to Texas legislative leaders warning that the rule would run counter to federal laws, and could cause the Transportation Security Administration to "cancel any flight or series of flights for which it could not ensure the safety of passengers and crew."

In a statement, the bill's supporters insist that they aren't violating any federal laws, and that their legislation includes appropriate exemptions for TSA officials:

Does this mean that the US is officially messing with Texas?

I heard this on the radio yesterday and I was infuriated. Wish Texas would've called the Fed's bluff.

They did. Now the DOJ has to justify pat-downs with probable cause rather than by
random choice or routine. They can't win in court if they refuse to do that.

From what I heard the Legislature dropped it, there was no support for the bill because of the Terrorism the Fed participated in.
