A Sandy Springs man got a phone call Monday that his family home in Carroll County was gone. Torn down. Demolished.

“We had heirlooms in there…my mom’s dining room set…her hutch with her dishes in there,” said homeowner Al Byrd.

“I said, ‘What address did you have?’ and he said, ‘They sent me some GPS coordinates.’ I said, ‘Don’t you have an address?’ (and) he said, ‘Yes, my GPS coordinates led me right to this address here and this house was described,’” said Byrd.

Byrd said he suspects the intended target was actually across the road.

How the fuck haven't these guys done this before? I hope they have some good liability insurance.

Wonder if they even bothered to check if anyone was in the house with their idiotic logic. Could have been much worse if these clowns had torn it down with residents inside. Anyway, I don't see why you wouldn't have the homeowners around before demolishing a building, you know, just to be sure.

It's probably not even legal to use GPS cooordinates for this.
Not only address, but survey coords like lot, block and plan
have to be verified before any construction work, and that
    applies to demolitions.

either way, don't think they'll be using this method again.

corpses unnoticed in cars, houses boarded up or demolished improperly.....

sounds like there's a lack of attention to detail lately :)
