    After reading the reason for closing this thread, I'm done.

    Three words would properly describe the "moderation" of this site:

  2. .::BeatFactory::.

    .::BeatFactory::. The man, the myth,...

    I agree... how was it spam?

    i agree how would that spam, he was just asking for opinions....

    I dunno what your complaining about the same thing has been done for months here.

    I dont see how its any different than advertaising anything else, i mean its obviously not orginal content and is obviously to promote for another orgainizations benefit as these cut and paste political threads are.

    They have caused nothing but problems here in the past and is not worth the trouble since this is a file sharing forum. Its not like there is a shortage of politics sites on the internet either.

    .::BeatFactory::. The man, the myth,...

    Sephiroth, I for one doubt I've ever picked anything with you. Maybe it was put in the wrong forum, as it was in the Zeropaid Forums > File Sharing > Advanced Users > General Discussion forum... How easily could it have been moved to the ZP Lounge or the VIP Lounge? It wouldn't have hurt there.

    In my regular member opinion, I didn't see it was something that was used to promote MoveOn.org's benefit but just to spread some information about Mr. Rumsfeld and what he said.

    Surely, a hardcore Republican might become offended as I see that MoveOn.org is a "... family of organizations consists of three entities. MoveOn.org, a 501(c)(4) organization, primarily focuses on education and advocacy on important national issues. MoveOn.org PAC, a federal PAC, primarily helps members elect candidates who reflect our values. And MoveOn.org Voter Fund, a 527 organization, primarily runs ads exposing President Bush's failed policies in key "battleground" states." and that could be another reason that it could fuel the Dem's vs. the Rep's but the pure post of MoonMan did nothing as far as promoting the org.

    I would have to agree that there was no viable reason to close this thread. I've never disagreed with the moderation by sephiroth and truly respect his input but I think that he may be a little off on this one.

    Sephiroth, dum dum dum dum sephiroth did doo di doo did, "sephiroth song FF7" best final fantasy song ever. Accompaning the best battle ever.

    It also doesnt have to follow campagin finance laws and therefore doesnt have to disclose its funders which corporations are comprised of "voters" as well..

    It was being used to spread their agenda which is no different from promoting it, trying to find loopholes to get around it is not going to work and is just wasting time. The forums is not their billboard..
  9. .::BeatFactory::.

    .::BeatFactory::. The man, the myth,...

    Ok, this is just to help myself understand this for clarity, but are you saying that nothing that can be used to spread another's agenda (or promoting it)? or is it just political things? We have plenty of the former...

    I have to admit, you are steering clear of the agenda here as to the reason that you closed the thread: you have said it is because they were "advertising" through MoonMan's post and that it was a political thread... Their background as an organization was not previously mentioned so just clarify things for me and others.

    And just for some more clarity for some that are maybe thinking that I am merely defending MoveOn.org, I can't call myself a Republican and I can't call myself a Democrat. I don't vote straight ticket. I registered as an independent and I just don't vote for a specific party. I vote how I feel will be the best person to run the position.

    i find it hard to believe that a respected member (2,439 posts) was advertising for an organization with the intent to promote it's beliefs above all others to the masses. Rather I think he just found something that he thought we might find interesting. I think you are alienating a member who has done nothing wrong. Respectfully, if this site is truly meant to be a global Portal shouldn't we be allowed to express our views anyway? ZP is my home page and I'm always interested in the viewpoint of my fellow ZP'ers whether or not I proscribe to their particular philosophies. Filesharing has a lot to do with political matters, if one candidate stated that he was for the legalization of mass file sharing wouldn't there be a news article about it?

    So, this is just beef against Moveon.org eh? Personally, I have never gone there before I clicked on the link, and I did not look at any content other than the clip, which is a real news clip from Meet the Press with Tim Russert. What is the problem with that? People post stupid animations all the time that people think are funny... I see no difference between those animations and this. At least this is interesting.

    Huh? ^^^

    WTF? This makes no sense... I am sure that Moony does not receive e-mail alerts from this group, and it is just something circulating the net, since it is Rumsfeld caught in a lie on tape... it is rather interesting actually... Your reasoning is not logical by the way.

    Did you watch it Seph?

    What did you think about this?
  12. I'm confused. How does Moonman's question and posting of a Meet the Press interview with Donald Rumsfeld promote MoveOn.org?! Because that's where the link came from? Are you suggesting Moonman is working to promote MoveOn.org? I havent seen any previous posts by him doing so...how did you come to that conclusion?

    Zeropaid posts plenty of articles here that come from all types of sources...does that mean that the members are promoting the NYTimes, CNet, etc, etc, when they post a news article. I don't think so.

    If you don't want any political threads, or any posts that remotely resemble what's happening in the real world, why don't just say so? Or more to the point--why don't you just come out and say you are going to close any political viewpoints that you disagree with?
  13. method

    method yeah, whatever...

    These often end up in flame-wars and it's easy to understand why.

    One side tells the other they're unpatriotic for disbelieving the unsubstanciated claims made by the other.

    The other side has loads of proof, reams of evidence and a log of all the lies, contradictions and deceit and can't believe the others don't see this.. or.. refuse to see this.. or.. don't get told these things from what they consider to be respectable, unbiased news-sources.

    The pro-bush-camp think that the anti-bush-camp is unpatriotic and often start screaming about how they don't give a shit about the US/allied troops.

    The anti-bush-camp get pissed 'coz a lot of them really do care about the troops (some even have kids of their own who've been sent of to this war!), that's why they don't want bush sending those brave people into a war where AT LEAST SOME of the motive is to do with control, greed and domestic political image.

    The anti-bush-camp often appear to treat the pro-bush-camp as if they're all rednecks with no ability to research other than to watch CNN in their trailer!!

    Then the pro-bush academics get all pissed for being stereotyped and start ranting on about Uranium purchasing, WMD's, how saddam was a genocidal bastard, etc.

    Then the anti-bush camp compare the genocide from saddam to all the killing that bush is responsible for as well as the fact that a recent US administration (aka. daddy's administration!!) helped put saddam in power.

    It goes on endlessly!!!

    I can see why seph gets pissed. Even more so if he is pro-bush. (and whether he is or not, I don't feel I have the right to judge someone on what they believe, people believe what they believe because of the information they have been given and also in the way in which that information has been presented to them.)

    It get's more and more frustrating for the "patriots" too as more and more evidence appears which contradicts a lot of the things they've said to back up their opinions.

    But be fair... who could blame them for thinking these things and having these opinions??

    The media (particularly in the US) is controlled, the whole saddam-statue-toppling thing with the US flag over his head.. was PLANNED months before by a PR company that the US govt. hired.

    When so much perception-twisting is going on, it's no suprise there are two sides to the argument.

    I only get pissed 'coz my government (UK) were dickless enough to go into this war with very skimpy (later to be proven to be falsified!!) evidence.. and just yesterday.. I got delayed 3 hours in a train journey 'coz of a f'ing bomb scare!! And this is mainly paranoia because we riled Afghanistan and Iraq with our involvement in the war... the outcome of which was (at least relating to Iraq).. that the reasons for going to war were never really substanciated... even now, months after seizing control and a long time looking for those elusive WMDs!!

    As for not catching Bush saying things.. Look for what Cheney said and attribute those to the "Bush Administration".. you'll probably be able to tie up all those loose ends regarding various claims and statements made which were later proven to be BS. Cheney did quite a lot of claim-making too. ;)

    Yes, I am anti-bush and I could rant about that all week, but my point is.. with so much lying, bullshit, media-control, etc.. This will always be a flame-filled topic, that much won't change. But it is a topic people like to argue over.

    I guess ultimately.. my main point is.. don't bother flaming people over their beliefs. They believe what they believe 'coz of the information they have been given or found out for themselves (and on both sides, that information may even be false or blown up out of proportion - both Michael Moore and George Bush are easily guilty of that!!!).

    It's a shame people can't have a mature debate over the war without it degenerating into a slagging match.. "Your a dumb, CNN spoon-fed Redneck", "Yeah, well you're an unpatriotic Sand****** lover".. and so on!!

    Are there any balanced forums out there that cater for people on both side of the argument??

    I agree Michael, that is out of control. Sephy sees something political he disagrees with, QUICK! CLOSE IT!

    Everyone here knows my political views, but I appreciated the link MoonMan gave. Are you happy Seph? Moonman (One of the greatest members here) has left because of your petty vendetta against him.

    I think you owe him a HUGE appology, but we know you are not adult enough to do such a thing.

    the only reason to close that thread was seph didnt like it. This is his playground after all. Im suprised this thread isnt closed and deleted yet.
  16. Oh but it will be soon.

    I wish I kept count of all the good/quilty members here that sephiroth has banned or pissed off until they leave. Your really runnin this place into dirt. Now when Moonman leaves he'll take another 2 members probly with him.

    I like you, I think you could be a great mod and you are a good mod with good knowledge but you gotta take a hint your doing something wrong to members here or they wouldn't be leaving. I think the reason you wont change is because you think you will lose the battle against us, you aren't gonna back down. Seph you wont lose if you decide to let things go a little more here. You will become better, and people will start to like you and listen to you. People will listen to your rules if you would just be more cool about it.

    I know this site is still filled with good members but Seph why not make it better then good? Why not keep those good members here To make it even better.

    HEy how can it be spam or advertising.. ITS TWO INCHES ABOVE BEING A SIGNATURE phrase.. Post the link in the signature with the exact thing you posted. Who really cares if anybody flames or not? Just dont take things personally and only argue opinions without name calling and directing anger or harrassement to an individual. PUt warning sign on the the thread that says what arguements go on inside, stays only inside that thread. Were all friends and filesharers with different believes and from all over the globe.

    I tend to find that the mods here, not all of them, but some of them have let becoming a mod go to their head.

    Anytime someone posts something they don't like (IE different political views), the thread gets closed. I find this to be a power trip to the max and I feel it should stop.

    Posting something that came from MoveOn.org is not spamming, nor is it advertising them. If that were the case then every link here would be considered spam. Whats next? We post someting from News.com and we get told that they can buy ad space because were advertising them/spamming?

    This whole thing can be summed up in one word:

    Ahh..........the memories of political threads.

    Where is grab_grab and notbob when you need them?

    I remember the time when grab_grab and I were having a heated debate of the war with iraq. It was quite a good thread. And he kept coming back with witty comments, and then I would do the same. And then Krell came and told him to go fuck himself and that if it wasn't for us, he would have nice little swastikas on his kilt, and........

    What has happened to this site? I remember months and months ago that we would brag how we were nothing like the censorship over at UTC. Now, we are just as bad if not worse. People are getting banned all the time.

    Why is that when other users of a different site (!) complained about how Krell was banning trolls and flamers.....that krell is demodded? But when sephi (whom i do respect and thought he has done an excellent job with this site in many ways thus far, but lately all this censorship is gotten out of hand) who has been banning long-standing members and the members of this site (!!!!) complain, nothing is done about it????

    Jorge, can you hear us?????

    I am NOT saying that sephi should be demodded or anything. I just think he should lighten up. Yes, this is a p2p forum. We realize that. WE REALIZE THAT. But for many of us, it's not just a p2p forum. It's our homepage....it's our home. When you're at home, do you just talk about one topic? No, you talk about everything....politics, religion, comedy...whatever. This is our home. We get to know each other, and we want to discuss other things besides p2p sometimes. People can only talk about p2p for so much.

    I don't want to go to another website to discuss life, or religion, or politics, or drugs, or whatever....I've met alot of people here and become friends with them, and we respect each other....and I want to know what their thoughts are on issues. Issues that matter in life.....when the next version of kazaa k++ lite comes out is NOT an issue that matters in life. That's the point. I don't want to go out and talk with people I don't know on other sites. I want to talk to those people that I know here.....our family. I want to know what their views are on god, the president, all of these different things. Yes, sometimes flames and other things come out of those threads....that is why we have moderators! To moderate user's posts and to edit or delete or whatever needs to be done to an offending post. But these are far and few. Most posts are not flames....or spam.

    So just lighten up. After all, it IS 'just a p2p forum.' So, if someone's feelings gets hurts because their political views were challenged by someone else, BIG FUCKING DEAL! Let us post what we want to post! Like how it used to be. If someone blatently spams, links to porn, or warez, or something that breaks the rules, then fine, deal with it. But all these gray issues, just leave them be.
