eXeem

eXeem is a brand new Peer-To-Peer program which is based on the BitTorrent idea. It eliminates the need for trackers as nodes in the program will be taking their role. It also features easy publication of files to the network as well as a rating and comments system. You are able to publish and download regular torrent files from its network and connect to users using other BitTorrent clients. eXeem contains no spyware or adware – The only ads you will see are html ads (the kind that you see on Web sites). It is currently still in its beta testing phase, which means that the network might not be completely stable yet.

eXeem is completely free and it can only stay free with ads. This is why, trying to remove the ads will only hurt the future development of the program. eXeem is supported only by ad revenue. This allows the developers to continue making upgrades to the network and enhancing the eXeem client for you.

Some of the latest eXeem changes include:

  • Fixed cropped filenames
  • Fixed some rendering bugs
  • Fixed systray icon
  • Now works on Windows ME

eXeem was created by Swarm Systems Inc. which is located in Saint Kitts and Nevis. The company has employed Andrej Preston, the founder of Suprnova.org as its spokesperson and face of eXeem. Five thousand Suprnova.org users were selected to take part in a private beta test of eXeem before the public beta was released on 21 January 2005.

eXeem's developers expected to implement the following features:

  • On-the-fly encryption and decryption
  • Searching by file hash
  • Quality of Service features
  • Proper Universal plug-and-play-support
  • User comments & ratings, but only when the file has been downloaded (to stop fake ratings)
  • Minimum limited upload rate (5 KB/s) to stop leeches.

I’m just a guy who loves to download TV shows, and I don’t know squat about bittorents, trackers and file sharing. I hear all this stuff about sites shutting down. What the hell is going on? I want my downloads back!
    Sincerely, D
