The program itself is solid. not many fakes, probably the best filesharing program out there. It could be a 10... HOWEVER. It states it doesn't contain spyware, but Spy-Bot: Search and destroy begs to differ. It found a few instances of spyware/adware related to the program. Now wether or not these are harmless dummy files put in there to trick the Gnuttella network into thinking you have the bog-standard spyware ridden version remains to be seen.. To be on the safe side I removed them and in doing so means I can't use the program. At the end of the day I only use Bearshare for the odd file, and I don't want to risk having the security and (more importantly to me being a gamer), performance of my computer compromised. If it wasn't for this minor issue, it could have been a 10.

THis is a Good programme. I started out with this about 3 years ago and was reosonbly happy..but not enough sources. So i changed to Kaza Lite....it was very good for a period..lots of source and quick...Then the Fakes started and it has been Rubbish ever since. I went back to Bear share (i have tried others inbetween...but they where not very good. Bearshare have nearly no fakes! Some mislabeled...shame that can not be fixed. You must remeber this programme is supported by Save Now weather and When U These are mot malicous programmes....but are using system resources, and a general nuisances...as i dont really care for what they want to tell me. (interent Advertising through hijacking....when will they realise it isnt actully helping to sell something..just making people Irate. Anyway....simply install a Software Firewall like Sygate and block the programmes. Bearshare will continue to work fine...the Save now programme will still be there...but no longer accessing the network. I get no pops at all. As for this Error 176?? i have been using bearshare for over 12montsh and not a porblem...with well over 100gig Downloaded through it. Overall ive been happy...but sources have become le lately, quite a bit of "Renaming files" and doubles etc... Which is why im moving on...otherwise it has been good to me. Im going to go the E-mule network...sounds like it has alot going for it. But if you are new to P2P Bearshare is a very good place to start!

This thing isn't worth a good damn. None of the Bearshare programs are. They all fuck up my system! As soon as I downloaded this one it said there was a "generic failure"...failure my ass! Screwball bullshit...*mumbles to self*

i like your speed ratings when you download and all bud but norton is known for not even picking up 50 percent of the spyware to everything else that is out there in there own classifications..... just cause its coming up clean doesnt mean its really clean..... if you dont take my word on that then its all good but you really should try and get the hook up on some quality protection.....

i remember bearshare from way back in the day, its gotten faster thats for sure... however with this bearshare lite... everytime i run the program it crashes. Anyone have an ideas on this???

Quick, no setup req. Here is a comparison: was using Sharezaa. 4 single songs from the 80's had no hits; on Bear i found all 4, with plenty of sources. D/L'ed them in under 30 secs each. I use torrents for most stuff, but when i want Autograph's Turn up the Radio, da Bear had it! Norton found no spyware/adware.

Try this program if you are looking for fast mp3's. For me, it runs much better than Limewire and turns up better reach results. This is a good program for those who wish to dump Kazaa, I have got very few fake files. in fact, I can't remember getting any fakes at all.
