    General Kazaa question

    Hi,

My Kazaa is really slow. My connection is faster when I'm downloading something from a website for example, but in kazaa it's all very slow. If I want to download an episode C####### it takes days of even weeks! So... can you tell me how I can change it?

    Do you have broadband?

Your speeds will depend on the user(s) you are downloading from.

By slow, what speeds do you refer?

Also, since this is a question about Kazaa, you should have posted this in the Kazaa section of the forums. Please be aware next time you post.

Also, if you are using the regular version of Kazaa, I suggest NOT using it.

    I suggest you:

    A. Get yourself a copy of adaware HERE, run it, and get rid of the spyware/adware that Kazaa has put on your system.

    B. Get yourself a copy of Kazaa Lite HERE.

Kazaa Lite is basicly a better, more enhanced version of Kazaa that DOESN'T contain what is known as Spyware.

Go HERE to read about what exactly spyware is.

Thank you :) Yes, regular Kazaa. I'm referring to speeds sometimes less than 1 kb/s!!! Does this Participation Level have anything to do with it?

Ok, before you read the next part of my post, do what I said above with the uninstall of Kazaa, adaware and installiation of Kazaa Lite from the site I listed.

Ok, I doubt the PL has much to do with your speeds but Kazaa Lite automatically gives you a constant PL level of 1000(highest) so your set there. Anyway, as for your speeds, it all depends on how many sources for the file you have and there speed/reliability. Try to download something popular with a lot of sources and see if you still get piss poor speeds such as the ones you were getting before. Also, I don't believe you answered my question of "do you have broadband?".

What type of internet connection do you have?

participation levels do affect bandwidth rate... if you uninstall kazaa, run adaware, then install kazaa lite, the participation level will not be a problem.

also, if you are only on a modem, 1kB/s is slow (it should be at least 2.5...).

try winmx, dc++, or edonkey. note: these are not at all beginners networks, so read up and find out what you are doing before you go just try to dl stuff.

Yes, PL levels do affect bandwidth rate a little, but like I stated, with Kazaa Lite, PL is NOT a concern.

First, and foremost, yes it is against forum rules to name what you are downloading (if its copyrighted material, in this case, yes).

Second, yes cable is indeed broadband.

Third, Adaware is a program that cleans the spyware that regular kazaa has left on your system. You run adaware after you uninstall regular Kazaa. You can download adaware HERE.

When that is finished, install Kazaa Lite (whatever the latest version is).

When you are set with Kazaa Lite, try to download something with a lot of sources (something popular like a popular song or something). See if your speeds improve.
