    Soulseek not working?

Can anyone connect to Soulseek? I've gone to their website and 'checked server status' and it remains on 'probing server' and returns no results.

    Exclamation New version available

Soulseek 145 is dead now, you must change to client 146b, http://www.slsk.org/download.html.

This upgrading to a new client every week is a bit silly. Most people can't be arsed with uninstalling the old version, then downloading and installing the new one. Each time I upgrade there's less users.

The frequent updates are great, but because it is mandatory to update, some users might be turned off.

Ok, does each client crash because of some bugs in the software and then once they're fixed they release a new version? Because I haven't seen any new features or anything. SS is great, I'll dl a new client every other day or so. Why would you uninstall old versions first? Just let the new installation overwrite it.

    Re: Soulseek

I was going to post the new release this morning after my downloads had stopped halfway through the night due to another change in the program. When i went to the Soulseek forums, I found that Nir said that "Soulseek is broken, come back tomorrow." I just started using this program again at the recommendation of method77, and soon after my resumption of use, the new, decentralized version came out. The new versions are musch faster at searching and overall seems to be a better program.

I have no problem if there are a few hiccoughs on the way to a good program becoming even better. Decentralization is very important for a p2p program, and Nir has been more than forthcoming with new versions, warts and all. If people don't want to try the new prog, you can still use the older version as well. A program like SS is used because of content; the users will not be scared by "minor" bugs such as these... There is always Kazaa in the interim (choosing individually--what a waste of time).
"There's a passage I got memorized. Ezekiel 25:17... I been sayin' that shit for years. And if you ever heard it, it meant your ass. I never really questioned what it meant. I thought it was just a cold-blooded thing to say to a motherfucker before you popped a cap in his ass. But I saw some shit this mornin' made me think twice… The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be a shepherd."

soulseek is always fuckin up. i swear this program is teetering on the brink of collapse.

this program might well implode before the riaa even gets a chance to shit on it. but yea, 146b is working. kudos for the information.
