Small Screen problems
Hi all, I've been downloading movies for a couple of months now and bar a couple of hitches they've been fine, but I've jst started encountering a problem.
I downloaded Windows Media Player v9 last week and since then the movies I've downloaded won't play in full sreen size. I thought it might be just one movie but I've downloaded another since and the same thing is happening. I then thought it might just be the media player itself but now they won't play full size in the Kazaa theatre either.
Any ideas why this has started happening and what can make it go back to normal?
Help and info very much appreciated!!

I havent had WMP 9 for a while, but look under Tools > Options > Performance > Advanced, see if there is a check box for Full Screen Switch Mode. Then Close the player.
This Option gets undone with the installation of a Microsoft codec from a codec pack, I cant recall which.

I think krell got this, but I just had a few comments
The full screen button moved/changed icons, are you sure you're not just missing it?
Also, kazaa lite media player IS windows media player, you can prove that by going into full screen, it will then look exactly like full screen WMP

How do uninstall this codec pack? Some one help me please!!

Easy . . . easy . . . .dont pop a blood vessel, if you hit ALT + Enter, whatever media will play full screen. Plus you will haev a Full Screen option under View.
Also there are little bullets to look for to go full screen. . and I recall something else about the VIEW toolbar, but I cant recall it, look there too.
Man if this is as bad as your day gets, go take a nap, youre not bad off. Just be judicious about reinstalling the Nimo pack etc.
CSSDUDE and I have found that it helps to uninstall the codec packs fro ADD REMOVE Programs and start over.
Dont panick, just work it.

Yeah, even if the pack you just installed has no uninstall, UNINSTALL any other codec packs you have, and install either Nimo or the new K-lite codec pack (k-lite is updated more frequently, and has most of what you'd ever need)
I swear I typed the ALT ENTER thing, or at least I was going to, it was the reason I made the last post....oh well, thanks tho krell

Phew!
Ok, problem solved. Cheers dudes. :)
I uninstalled the ffdshow and the divx bundle I had and then installed the DivX Pro pack and things seem to be ok. It's full screen again too so that seemed to work.
Sorry if I sounded a little panicy but I don't know much about computers and thought she might have screwed things. Plus I got up at 4 am this morning and it's now 10:10 pm so I guess I do need a nap, he he.
Thanx again peeps, I love this site!

Glad to see you got it working
2 things
1. Unless you got a hacked copy, you just installed gator and who knows what else on your computer, run adaware or spybot on your system, or you'll regret it!
2. If I've replyed to a thread, I'll see when you post a new post, so you don't have to PM me telling me to look at your new post, thanks! :)
It also seems like you know more than you think, most people wouldn't have figured that out
Nice to see you back here

I don't believe this!
It's doing it again!! When I first clicked the 'Enable full screen switch' thing it worked and played in full screen. I just restarted my comp and now it's gone back to the little screen again. I went into Options again and that box is still checked so I don't what the heck is wrong now.
When I said it won't play full screen, I meant the screen does go to full but the movie is just in a little box in the corner with the rest of the screen black. I clicked Alt and Enter and it still does the same thing.
Any ideas what's wrong now? This is really annoying.

If the video screen is black, irrespective of size, then you are still missing a decompressor, a codec.
The util G-Spot or AVIcodec, will help you determine which video codec you still require for that movie.
You may need to reinstall the FDShow Alpha, found at Sourceforge.
You may also still need XviD . . . so use the above utils to see what you need.
This should take you less than 30 minutes to find and do.

Done but still the same
Done that but it's still the same.
Checked it with GSpot and it just says 'codec IS installed'.
I guess I'm just gonna have to watch the movie with binoculars.

Things just keep getting better
Now for some reason it won't even play at 200% the size!
I give up.

Have you tried other media players like Zoom Player, BSPlayer, etc?
