    XVID codec?

i downloaded a movie file and tried to play it in WMP9 and they said
Cannot allocate memory because no size has been set.
When I went to my DivX player they said it is encoded with an XVID codec, and I may need to install that to play the movie...........does anyone know what I need to do.......i will search around and delete my post if I find what i need........

Yeah, I actually agree with dealie this time, just download a codec pack like the K-lite one, then you'll be able to play almost any future movies to

the codec pack worked great.........both audio and video are fine..........just one more little problem..........when i watch the video.....in at least two places, the video stops, and the audio continues.......i dont want to have to advance the video every time i watch it........so is there any way to make the video flow together in these places?

Yes...but just skip the bad spots...if you do try cutting the crap out with Vdub...you'll usually end up fucking up sync...it'll drive ya nuts so just ignore it..

OR redownload the video...and try keeping your sources to like 2-6.....sure it's slower...but you have a better chance of not nailing someone with a failing HD or someone who downloaded that section of data off someone who did...

I've had it happen before...it does blow to see a perfect DVD rip and have spots where the video cuts out and blurs up like your watching an Xvid encoded video with FF Dshow set to decode Xvid while the real codec is installed...lol (thats the best example I could come up with...if you never had it happen..just know it sucks)

    Dude...thou shall NOT badmouth Vdub....Vdub 0wnz j00!

It's free and it does what it says....plus it's not bloated....thats enough for me.

It doesn't suck...it's meant for people who truly know what their doing....

You're, for the most part, a newbie....once you learn loads about how AVI and other video formats work...you'll understand what I mean. : )

You have no idea how long it took me to figure out that was my problem, I had a perfect copy of a movie, and it chopped on my computer, there is no way a movie should chop on a 32meg TNT2 with an Athalon processor and 512meg of ram...no matter the quality (dvds were smoother)

Anyway, I read later that there was a conflict with xvid and ffd, fixed, now its awesome quality
