I don't see where it was discussed- I d/l a movie from dvd/divx
it is too large for 700mb disc. How can you split the movie?
Thank you.
Right click the movie in question, select properties.
List the exact file size, such 740,448,880
I want 9 digits from you . . . in BITS, it will be in pathenthesis
verify it is a DivX not an Mpg.
This may be a matter of trimming, not spliting.
Thanks Krell-
Size: 731 mb (766,914,664bytes)
size on disk:731 mb (766,918,656 bytes)
If the movie has VBR mp3....your SOL on using Vdub to split without much fuss....
As a last resort use Vdub IF the audio is outta sync or the mp3 soundtrack is VBR.
Start off with AVIchop (I'll attach it..)
If that doesn't work you can try using WinRAR to rar the file...this method only works with a few megs here or there...IE 704..or 705 megs...
So give AVIChop a try and cut it down to 702 megs...then burn the disc and burn the left overs to another disc...

Thx CCSDUDE, good one
I used AVIchop to trim DUDE ***** ** ***, the greatest film of all time.
not really
Anyhoo, the file is small enough to use Over Burn, so the next question is . . .*drumroll* Do you use Nero?
No donot have nero. d/l avichop but don't know what it's
referring to as imput and select output,I tried placing the
movie in input, but can get nothing for output.
have d/l VirtualDub, but have to study it to see.
Uhh... I used to love AviChop as it was the easiest and simplest program to use for these kinds of matters..
That is, until I found out it chops the file into two and they both dont have sound...
Evil_Dweller_01 - I share your pain
An avi file ALWAYS has to be cut at a Key Frame, always always always
Let's not go chopping yet, there's no need to.
Your job is to check two things
Does your CD Burner support Over Burn, most do.
and does your CD Burning software support Over Burn
NERO supports Over Burn, and will burn that movie like there's no tomorrow.
Spend the 30 minutes to research this. If you CD rom supports Over Burning, then your good to go. You can always get a copy of Nero.

Thx guys,
This is an example of how you think you have a problem, but it turns out to be a different issue.
Instead of splitting the movie, he could just chop off the credits, as I do. However, it is more work than warrented, if he can just burn the whole movie as intended.
In less time than it would take to make a single attempt with VirtualDub, or AVIchop, he can check his specs to see if Over Burn will wite the file on a CD-R.
I write movie in the 703 Mb range and dont think twice about it. Yet my friend who burns a lot of my movies states that he can't. Without looking at this friends system, I do not know why he can't, his hardware may not support it.
It also depends on the CDR being used. Most Verbatims are 702.2 mbs no questions asked. Other brands are near 700 and some hit that sweet spot of 703...Originally posted by Krell

That's why some people rip a tad higher knowing they may go over the 702 limit...lucky bastards...lol

I know I have 750MB recordable cd's and I have seen that 800 exist as well, this may help. I have found I have to use the 750's for about 50% of my VCD burns.
