Unhappy .opening .ASF or WMV file problem

SORRY TO BOTHER U guys BUT, I DOWNLOADED BOB MARLEY'S BIOGRAPHY movie clip from Kazaa. i WAS TRYING TO ENCODE IT INTO MPEG FROMAT USING TMPGE ENCODER, i ENCODED IT OK, BUT NO SOUND, ONLY THE PICTURE-ACTUALLY THERE IS SOUND FOR THE FIRST FEW SECONDS AND THE SOUND COMPLETLY DISAPPEARS. i BELIEVE THE FILE IS IN ASF FORMAT. DO U KNOW ANY METHOD TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM?

I TRIED TO OPEN IT VIA VIRTUAL DUB INORDER TO SAVE THE SOUND IN WAV FORMAT BUT VIRTUAL DUB WOULD NOT RECONIZE THE .ASF FILE AND WOULD NOT LOAD /OPEN THE FILE. i keep getting an error message like "could not locate decompressor for format WMV1" or "ASF file removed by media play request", etc bases on which version of virtual dub i use. I used version of virtual dub 1.3, 1.4.1 and MP3freez in attempt to open the abve video clip without success. PLEASE HELP IF U CAN,

    THANKS

I'm not a video guy, so can't be of much help to you, but........

In future you might want to consider not typing in capitals, as it is seen as shouting as is rude. But, as you've only got a postcount of 1, I'll let you off ;-)

sorry man i did not know writing in a capital letter is rude or offensive. thanks for pointing out but i have a question for u. Who sets this kind of rules and what makes capital letter so offensive. Rather i think it highlites the improtance of the statement in a sentence and and it gives more weight to the message. I think that is my belief and that is why i used capital letters. I guese u r telling me something different and i would take that as a new thing that i learned.

    thanks

Good, you dropped the "all caps" method. Now I have something else for you to try. Do not telling us what you:

    A. Downloaded

    B. Are going to download.

Use the program GSpot to examine the video file and give all the info it provides you(except the filename of course). Someone with exceptional A/V knowledge will provide advice sonner or later.
You can't triple stamp a double stamp.

I think it's just mainly because it's easier on the eyes! If you want to accent something, use bold or italic text.

Obviously, it is fine to use it to make SHORT STATEMENTS or phrases, but typing long sentences and/or paragraphs in it isn't a good idea.
