    the original doom goes online

if your a fan of old school games like wolfenstein3d, and doom, then youll love the online feature that has been made for doom. a few years ago id software released the source code for the original doom, and people have been making modifications to it to what they want. someone was talented enough to create an online version of doom to were you can use the full, or shareware version of doom.

you can find instructions on how to do this at this link. scroll down to the bottom of the page for instructions. if you don't have doom on your computer, you can find copies at download.com , or by using kazaa.

there isn't a whole lot of people on yet because i think it is relatively new. if you know any old school gamers tell them about this so the original doom can be as popular as today's first person shooters.
A great man once said, it's better to go forward, cause if you go backwards you may trip, or cause someone to fall.

No I will not fix your computer.

you know you should really give linux a try. you know the funny thing about the l2cache on the old pentium 2 really didnt give me the power to do the multimedia stuff that a guy like me wants to do.

there are very few games today that are coming close to a sense of reality in multyplayer mode. it is very hard for me to belive doom can be intertening in multiplayer- the dude couldnt even jump!
Thats only you're opinion. You can't speak for anyone else but yourself when deciding what is entertaining and what is not.

I still find myself playing wolfenstein3d from time to time.

    Munchables....

Doom kicks ALL forms off ass. Screw CS and Half life and all this new crap. Doom started it all and shall always blow them away.

Frag fests kicked ass back in the day....and I've got so many mod's for Doom...I haven't even played through them all.

Hell I've got Doom II on this old ass 486DX 20mhz laptop...

It's on a 520 meg hd with 8 megs of ram and shitty Windows 3.1 and it still kicks...I doubt you could even install HL on it much less play....

Maybe you just sucked at it? hmmm

Would be something cool if you had a really shitty computer, slow internet connection, and lots of time on your hands.

Still, I am going to give it a shot one day.. probably a damn good killer of time.

How about a ZP lan party?

I've been thinking about starting a thread about this, it would be awesome to play a multiplayer game against you guys sometime, I think it could be fun for pretty much everybody, and this game would include everybody in the party

I'll deffinately be checking this out, Doom kicked ass, I remember playing it at my dads buisness all the time on their LAN, and just think of the insane framerates you'll get with your newerish pc's

I'm not sure which is more overrated in games, graphics or 'realism'. Both are rather irrelevant, what's important is gameplay. I played multiplayer doom for about 4 years and I've been playing QuakeWorld (internet mod of the original Quake) for about 6-7 years and these two are still the best games I've ever tried. The new fps games are just so damn boring and lack action of any kind. 'CS' is a curse word in Quake scene. :)

I totally agree with Phalkon !
It would kick ass to have a ZP online gaming party !!!

Hey, Phalk, come on make a thread about it ... include a poll with the game possibilities ;)
