    Winmx file error 5

Can anyone tell me what file error 5 is ? Winmx crashed and the 4 files I was d/l all now show file error 5 as soon as a download starts. I have tried trimming 10k off the end of each file but it hasnt worked. One of these files has taken me weeks to get up to 80% as its very rare and I would hate to have to start all over again . Any help would be gretaly appreciated !

I have recently got this message also, on alot of file at once. Its all good now though after a restart they have started just fine. But I would like to know what file error 5 is because ive never seen it happen before, and I use winmx alot, it seems odd to see some one else have the same trouble at the same time.

OK, I have more info on this. In my case file error 5 was caused when winmx crashed on my PC. All files that had active downloads experienced the same problem. I managed to get around it in the end by trimming 100k off the end of each file (so basically doing trim 10k x 10) . Trimming just 10k off didnt fix it but taking off 100k has done the trick. Now all the files are able to download properly again.

It must be that when winmx crashed during downloading the end of file marker (or indeed the data) gets corrupted. Trimming a big chunk off the end fixes it.
