    No eMule Users

Okay, i've been using eMule for a while now and before when I would download something the download would always start right away, and I used to get really nice speeds on it, comparable to those on KaZaA. But recently a file I was downloading went from loads of users and fast speeds to no speeds. It just sits there all day finding sources, I might get lucky and it'll find around 50-90 when before it would find 400-500, and even worse is that it won't download from anyone! I'm connecting to the same server I always was. I've done everything imaginable, from a complete un/reinstall and everything in between. Also at the bottom of my download it says "downloaded part 30 is currupted" I have an idea what that means but it doesn't make sense because I tried to download the same file again, and the same thing happens but with no error message because I'm not far along enough in the dowload to reach part 30. It's really got me PO'd because the file was almost done and now it finds no users and it doesn't wanna download when before it worked perfectly. Also, whenever I do a search for the file it always says that their are loads of users fore the file, yet when it comes time to download it it finds nothing.

i don't know if something is wrong with the networks but overnet was very slow today for me. usually i get a ton of sources and decent speeds. today mine were 1-2k, very unlikely of the way overnet did work for me.

not saying that I hate emule, i've tried to get into it more than once, it just always seems slow, I'm not that patient when it comes to downloading, kind of beats the purpose of broadband

I never had much luck on emule myself.

I guess that type of service is not meant for the dial-up P2P user.

I've seen queues on emule that make the ones on WinMx look short.

    sorry man!
I got your PM but kinda got sidetracked with stuff.

Yeah emule can be like that. You gotta be patient. Its just most likely a bit of bad luck on the particular file.
I've had a file in my download que with way over a hundred sources and it won't download for maybe 3 or 4 hours. You need to realize your download from people who probably are having hundreds of people try to download off them as well.

What is happening to you does happen and its not really all that weird. Just be glad its not always like that.

Lets assume your installation is ok and all that. If you have downloaded before and had no problems then its just that file.

    go to http://jigle.com
enter the file your looking for into the query.

when the results come up click on details and have a look at which servers have the most sources.
then click on a server that looks promising. That might help you.

also do that when your begining a new download to get a idea of the sources and which servers might be better for that file.

You are downloading more than one file aren't you?
How are the other files doing ?
If not try another file just to see what is going on with your connection.

Go find a popular file and download it.

    peace

Thanks Rickio! There's a new twist and the plot thickens, lol, All my other downloads work fine and I'm getting excellent speeds again on eMule like before, except with the one I was complaining about before, it still doesn't want to download from anyone, so I guess I'll just hope for the best with that one. Once again thanksfor the advice everyone ; )

Im not sure you can do this in normal emule, but in plus you can doubleclick the file while waiting and the queue list will roll out. The option is in preferences somewhere "expand on doubleclick" or the like..The prob you have doesnt sound like a problem really, it may just be a fucked file so people have deleted it, hence fewer sources. The sources left may then be parts at people who didnt find out its a fucked file yet. Also, about the part 30 being corrupted, the corruption can be caused by many things and happens all the time and it doesnt matter because emule automatically gets an uncorrupted part for you, so just ignore when the log tells you a part is corrupted. As you have several sources, you would likely not get the same corrupted part on a (needless) new download. Also, you mention youre on the same server as always. All servers search all users, that is including all users on all servers (remember to "search global"). However it searches its own users first (older versions where global/server search isnt specified), so a server with many users is more likely to start right away, but as I said, eventually you would get all sources on all servers anyway. Hence, a download should get more sources than a "server" search will show, because it looks for sources on all servers once downloading. Do not use Mldonkey, for like the bots, its users are blocked by emule. It is my experience that the fastest servers arent neccesarily the ones with most users, so using Adanet or the silent bobs doesnt neccesarily mean greater efficiency in neither searches nor speeds. Set yer mule to autoload new servers, and just click connect and dont worry about it. Believe me, what you do now is somewhat unlikely to give you any special advantage whatsoever, in fact the huge traffic on that server may even cause you slower speeds or other complications. Happy sharing!

Have you turned off your computer throughout the entire process?

Because I wouldn't be surprised when it does finish it may be screwed up.

If the download stops and one of those binary 1s turn to a 0, your whole application is fucked.

I don't know a whole lot about the situtaion of what occurs when a download ( an application ) pauses, but I have heard that if you do stop the download, there is a possibility of the software being un-usable.

Are u sure? I' often pause whatever Im downloading, be it Software, music, film etc and I never experience a problem with it once it's done.

Oh and nasrules, thats strange, I've already downloaded 2 films off of it in around a month. It's strange you've been downloading longhorn for several months now.

I'm not completely sure about it, but I think I picked it up from the KaZaA Lite forums a while back.

Someone was having trouble with an application and they explained it and told him to re-download the file because of this purpose.

I will do some research on this and post back.
