Hi, I've been running my pc i built myself for awhile now, with windows xp, soyo dragon lite motherboard, 256 mb's ram, athlon xp 1800 and recently i've been getting the blue screen of death every 24 hours or so..sometimes my computer will stay on for longer than that, and some times less. anyway, the stop error messages shows up something like this...
stop: 0x00000008E
win32k BF800000, datastamp 3b7de698
Any information on what's wrong and what i can do to fix it would be much appreciated! thanks
no idea aye. sum else will help u outbro
without specific information about ur hardware and driver setup, we cannot do anything except likely make the problem worse. search google for aida32, download it and run it. keep the output and when krell comes along later he'll tell u what parts he would like u to pm him.

PM me to remind me, I will look in to this later

I have had my coffee
krell! free refills at dunkin donuts!
Ive seen you without your first caffeine drip of the day man. frightening, truly frightening.... you might just scare the good doctor away!
granted, I sure couldnt help him. my method of dealing with a bsod is neither technical nor safe for electronic components.
edit: so I am not a morning person either. in fact, I am the farthest thing from it. I shouldnt even be allowed near a pc after I first get up. I just literally twisted my keyboard in half. right now its laying on the ground in two large pieces that were obviously torn apart from each other with many keys (and little blue push plastic thingies) scattered all around. I think I may leave it and take a picture later, this madness should be saved for posterity.
yeah, Im using a differnt keyboard now. there is a reason I only buy $10 ones you know...now I think I should start getting them in bulk.
do you have sp1?Originally posted by drthunder

also: make sure your RAM is firmly seated.

As an additional troubleshooting option, you can configure your system to write an entry in the system Event Log when a Stop message occurs.
To enable Stop message Event Log reporting
In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.
Click the Advanced tab, and then in the Startup and Recovery box, click Settings.
In System Failure, verify that the Write an event to the system log check box is selected.

Just curious, did we ever solve this problem?
My quick thoughts....can you monitor the processor, motherboard, and internal tempurature? I had the same problem when my vid card drew too much power from the power supply which overheated my power supply, which overheated my processor, which overheated my case and the rest of the components, causing the video card do crash the pc by means of a BSOD *takes a breath*
When did this start to happen to you, more specificly, what did you change, something did, did you add new hardware? move your case? add some software? do a windows update?
I hope we can help you some, but if you've figured it out, let us know so we can help others better in the future

I didnt forget about you, just buried.
i think i might have figured it out. i ran scandisk and had it replace any errors or whatever, and it found a few...could i have bad sectors on my hard drive?
Hmmm, sounds plausible to me
Sometimes the simplest answer is the best! :)
Let us know if that fixed, say a week or two from now (if you think of it anyway), I'd be intrested in hearing if that fixed it

I totally agree phalkon, and I know for a fact that bad sectors will crash windows.
However, we still dont know wha the deal is, so unless he reads his scandisk log, its still speculation.
He hasnt given the EXACT eror msg yet, therefore I havent tried to investigate it.
I have already answered STOP errors a few times this year, and posted links, they are mainly related to drivers not being able to access memory space.
