Trading with an autoresponder

Here's a little story:

I had a guy in my queue that wanted to trade. Ok, I browse through his files, see he has something I'd like to download, start him and put myself in the queue of him.

I wait a short time, realize he doesn't start my download, so I write him a message.

I get an autoresponder message back, saying it's currently night over there, he's sleeping etc.

Ahem.

I cancel his download and ban him, to see if he reacts by cancelling me too.

A while after, he starts my download (perhaps I didn't wait long enough). I unban him and wait until he appears in my queue again, since I can't message him.

He reappears, I start his download. I'm happy, hopefully he's too.

Again a while after, I get a message from him asking if "I'm satisfied with the download speed".

I get all confused since he still has his autoresponder on and I can't reply to him.

After 15 min. he finally sends me a message that he "didn't have a clue why the autoresponder was on".

Remember kids:
Always turn off your autoresponder if you want to trade.

Were not kids, and were not manipulative little pricks either. We dont play that "start me or I will cancel you" bullshit.

All the trading and cancelling others to give preference to trades is what killed Winmx. Auto responders had no effect on my ability to get over 250 on Winmx alone in the past year. I really dont give a shit who has an auto responder or not.

I assume you mean 250 videos Krell? Or What? 250 anything isn't that amazing unless it's ISOs. I've downloaded nearly 2,000 videos on Kazaa in the last 6 months and I'm not even trying.

But yeah, I don't know what the point of your post was.

Movies, I scarfed over 250 movies off Winmx alone.
(AND over 100 concerts and full albums)

And I did it, without cancelling people to get their attention, or bumping them for not starting me. I did it, because I learned to use it, and was resourceful.

I was waiting for Krell to reply on this one, also you can bet the movies were not cams. Also I use the auto responder mostly to give someone a laugh if I am not sitting right on top of the pc.

I strongly disagree here. I have some good friends on winmx and we "trade" all the time. but its people who share interests in similar shows I watch and who help support the network. I DO get irate at some people who all they do is message for trades. I share all my stuff freely and trading is not the norm for me. 90% of the time im sharing freely

I dont do cams, and A LOT of my movies are 2 CD sets, so in reality, I have downloaded more than 300 CDs worth. All together, maybe 500 full Cds.

Yes, but you cant offset the 90% of assholes that trade only. We all trade some, and its possible that you and I have traded, but its the others that kill it.

whatever u guys r saying is too good to be true

cancelling other's downloads is needed if u ever wanted to get their stuff. once i was grabbing a 1.3Gb ISO and the other guy was grabbing a 1.5Gb ISO from me. i finished about 1Gig and suddenly i see mine gets disconnected. i messaged the guy but he never replied. i thought he was sleeping(he was a jap) so i didn't bother cancel his downloads and let him finish. Guess what, i never seen that guy again and there goes my wasted 1Gb of incomplete file. i did manage to get it complete later however this time i did the trade the smarter way: i made sure the other guy will never get my stuff until i gets his stuff at the same time.

From your post it seems you asume I'm one of those guys that cancel every non-trader?

Well, I'm not one of those. I have 2-3 upload slots open, but when I get the opportunity to get a file I want faster by trading, I open another slot. All the other people are kept in my queue.

I never trade. I want to have as little contact as possible with the little pricks who spend this amount of time to spend just to download some file.
